It’s time to talk about “dignified menstruation”!!!

The word ‘menstruation’ or ‘period’ is still a taboo in many parts of the word. In many countries, women are isolated during this period. In Nepal, the commonly used word for having a period is “being untouchable”.
Let’s hear from experts why we need to destigmatize menstruation, what experts in various countries are doing to make it happen and the support they need from men and women to achieve dignified menstruation for all girls and women.
Please join us via Zoom on
Sunday October, 4th 2020

Program on how to protect mind during stress situation

According to Buddhism, the state of the mind is one of simplicity and tranquility. It is through experience in life, desired sense, learned emotions and obsessions that this pure state becomes complex. The Buddhist meaning of mindfulness is to understand the mind and to have knowledge of its capacity. For these it is important to pay attention to the mind. Our discussion program will be focused on how to protect mind during stress situation. Our speaker Prof. Bajracharya will discuss the protection of mind in perspective of Buddhism right after our regular mindfulness by Rosy Sharma.

Mindfulness-Meditation Online Class

Dear All Community Members Namaskar,

NAF

(Nepalese Association of Florida) is organizing online Mindfulness-Meditation Online Class starting from March 28th 10.00 AM- 11.AM (EST) (Every Saturday). The program will be run by our community member and certify instructor for Mindfulness Meditation Mrs. Rosy Sharma Sedhain. She has completed here certification from the UMass Center of Mindfulness and teaches a course in mindful meditation and yoga at the Barboursville Branch of the Cabell County Public Library. According AAP (American Association of Psychology)  Mindfulness has enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity in the past decade, both in the popular press and in the psychotherapy literature. The practice has moved from a largely obscure Buddhist concept founded about 2,600 years ago to a mainstream psychotherapy construct today. Advocates of mindfulness would have us believe that virtually every client and therapist would benefit from being more mindful. Among its theorized benefits are self-control, objectivity, affect tolerance, enhanced flexibility, equanimity, improved concentration and mental clarity, emotional intelligence and the ability to relate to others and one's self with kindness, acceptance and compassion(https://www.apa.org). Our instructor also suggest that mindfulness-based practice could be beneficial for reducing stress on children (From Article Title-Mindfulness can help manage children’s stress).

Pleas join us every Saturday from 10.00 to 11.00 AM (Easter Standard Time) via Zoom https://us04web.zoom.us/j/9813582640 or scan the QR code (Below) to log in to program. If you need more info on the program, please contact Anila Neupane (anilanupane@gmail.com or 571-442-1610).
