NAF Children Art Competition

Nepalese Association of Florida (NAF) is conducting it’s second Children’s Art Competition for kids of Nepali origin living in Florida, USA. This competition is being organized with the aim of using the power of painting to foster the dreams and creativity of today’s young children who will go on to become leaders of tomorrow.

The entrees received for the competition will be exhibited during “Explore Nepal 2018” event scheduled for May 27 in Orlando, Florida. 

The deadline for submitting the entries for the Children’s Art Competition to April 27, 2018.

Eligibility

Any student in Kindergarten through Twelfth grades may participate.

Age Categories

Finalists will be chosen from three levels.

Elementary, Middle, High School

Judging and Winners

A panel of Judges will review entries by three different level.

All finalists’ artwork will be featured in “the Explorer Nepal 2018 “art gallery. There is prize and certificate for First, second and third in each category (Elementary, Middle and High School). All other participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Entries

1. Theme:

1. For Elementary level: Any type of flowers. (Artwork can be realistic or abstract.)

2. For Middle level: landmark of Nepal. (Artwork can be realistic or abstract. You may include people and animals in your artwork.)

3. For High level: Anything related to Nepal and Nepalese culture and tradition. (Artwork can be realistic or abstract.)

2. Media and Technique Requirements

Any of the following media or techniques may be used:

Paint (Watercolor, tempera, crayon, pastels, Charcoal, acrylic, oil, etc.)

Oil and acrylics work should be painted on 8×10 canvas.

3.Size: 8inch x10 inch canvas or canvas paper.

4.Entries: One entry per person for all levels.

5.Other: Please do not frame the work.

All entries should be handed to your local NAF representative.

Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. All artworks must be original ideas and created entirely by the student.

NAF Children Art Competition 2018

Nepali New Year BS 2075

The Nepalese Association of Florida (NAF) has organized the Nepali New Year 2075 at Lakes Regional Park, Fort Myers Florida on May 14, 20718. The event was attended by more than 200 Nepalese from all over the Florida. The event was with full of activities to protect and promote our unique socio-cultural values especially for those kids born and raised here in USA from Nepalese parent. NAF has been promoting our unique cultures through various social activities like, Sports, Music, Art and other social events.

The New Year celebration stared with Nepali National Anthem by children from Fort Myers, FL. Activities were designed to make all attendees with diverse interest group to get actively involved throughout the day. There was a literature program (poem competition) for those who love literature. Kids participated in various competitive game activities. There was a friendly volleyball competition amongst the group representing different part of Florida such as Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Tampa etc. for those who love sport. Friendly cricket match was also played despite the sun. In both the games, Miami team came victorious. Sarita Timsina Khanal and team kept the kids engaged with various kids’ games. The event was energized through live music from different participants now and then throughout the day.

The picnic for the New Year celebration was sponsored by local Fort Myers Nepali Community. Various Nepali cuisines were served throughout the day. Dr. Ghana Shyam Pokharel, Dr. Basu Pudasaini, Dr. Cheban Acharya, Dr. Bishal Rawal and Dr. Yadav Paudel sponsored the picnic. Dr. Chooda Mani Khanal group from Miami Florida brought special Nepali rice Donuts (Sel Roti) and local corns to make the event authentic.
